When I started doing The Weekly Tarot reading I only used the 22 Major Arcana cards in the shuffle. I wanted to focus only on these because the Major Arcana deals with the spiritual cause of physical events. I have now reached all 22 cards with the Temperance card being the last one left. So, without shuffle this week, it’s time for the Temperance card.
This is quite excellent because it’s the New Moon this Friday 13th, which is also a Solar Eclipse and Super Moon. ALL of the things! The New Moon invites us to reflect and put into action (the writing down) the things we want to attract and bring into our lives.
The Temperance card is blending actions and feelings bringing inner peace. It is about bridging the gap between the human and spiritual side. To me, this is a very abundant card. There is a guiding Angel who is standing with one foot on the ground and the other just in the water. Almost ‘testing the waters.’ The foot on the ground represents the material world, while the foot in the water represents the subconscious. There is a balance that is needed between the two.
The Angel pours water between the cups and their eyes are closed – as if to say that they are trusting that the water will make it.
The white square with the red triangle is placed on the Heart Chakra and to me is a reminder about connecting and opening our hearts with all that we do. After all, if we want to attract from a loving place we need to also open our heart and offer that same openness and love to others.
The Temperance is the card for Sagittarius. Sagittarians understand that all things have purpose and are an opportunity for growth.
This is a time to be calm when things may seem hectic. To behave with grace and a sense of peace.
It’s calling us make time for self-reflection to re-examine priorities. What are you spending your time and mental energy on? Is this what you want and is it worth it?
Just as the New Moon calls us to manifest and take action, so does Temperance and reminds us to act with a sense of purpose. To do what you can to be who you are capable of being. This is a card for behaviour and action, not so much concepts.
There is such lush abundance in this card. There is fresh water, flowers blooming, and a path surrounded by green grass that leads to something bright. The path is the journey and the path leads to the sun – the goal. It’s the distance between your vision and what is possible. You need to remain aware of your path and trust that your inner voice is guiding you gently to the right outcome.
This card can signify travel, learning or teaching. Which, really, when you think about it, is what we are all doing when we travel through life. We are all teachers and when we speak to someone we don’t know the words that they may hold on to and take with them on their own journey.
So, this week with the New Moon approaching think about your path, is this the direction you want to be going in, or are you wanting to pave another? Think about what you want to attract into your life and connect to both your human and spiritual side. Think about how you can bring in more balance, patience and moderation. Then think about how you can action this.
This New Moon is asking us to be conscious of our stories. The things we tell ourselves, the excuses, the reasons why. Each time we repeat our story it’s like signing another contract with the Universe and we are saying this is how it is. But what if you decided that it’s not the story you want any more and you decide to write a new one? You can’t change the past, but you can pick up that pen and decide to write a new chapter. One that puts you on the path you want to be on. After all, the most magic thing about our lives is that we get to decide exactly how we want to live it. It really is a privilege that we have the freedom to choose. So, decide what you are wanting for yourself on the journey and at the end of that path. The sun is shining on you and the path is all your own to walk.
